Space is limited! To save your seat, email your name to participate@wwec2008.com.
Routes include guided tours of:
- The Integrated Learning Centre at Queens University, a green building and multi-disciplinary learning environment designed to complement the classroom experience for engineering students, enhancing design, team and professional skills development. Features include a BioWall, solar PV array and many 'smart' sensor features (attach brochure)
- The Kingston Police Headquarters, the first LEED Gold-certified building in Kingston including rainwater and energy recovery systems and multiple environmental design features (attach brochure)
- The Royal Military College of Canada, an active military base wind 1789 and an important Kingston royal Naval Dockyard during the war of 1812. Point Fredrick includes three National Historic Site designations: the 192-‘s Royal Navy Dockyard, the Point Fredrick buildings, the Kingston Fortifications (now a World UNESCO Heritage site). RMC is located on Point Fredrick, a small peninsula at the point where the St. Lawrence leaves Lake Ontario and where the Rideau Canal system starts.
- The Kingston Mills Locks, initially cleared in early 1827 featuring a dam in the shape of an arch and constructed of large blocks of stone laid on end. In 1872 the area around the lower sill of the bottom lock collapsed and had to be repaired and in 1913, major changes were made to the lock site when the grist mill was removed, and new dam and waste weir were constructed, and a hydroelectric powerhouse was built below the waste weir (self-guided tour).
Tours are approximately 2 hours long and start and finish at St Lawrence College. Please board buses in the St Lawrence Parking lot at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday June 24th after the Cocktail Reception in Trade Show Exhibit area (5:30 p.m.) and Buffet Dinner (6:30 p.m.).

Tour the Innovation Park at Queen's University, Kingston
Innovation Park at Queen's University is a strategic investment, made possible by Ontario's Ministry of Research and Innovation, in physical and intellectual capital that is enhancing the economic potential of the South Eastern Ontario region. A co-location facility for academic and industrial research, Innovation Park provides access to a variety of resources – expertise, highly skilled graduates for summer or permanent placement, high quality R&D space and shared equipment, programs and services. Located at the urban core of the city of Kingston and only 5 km from the main campus of Queen’s University, Innovation Park is highly accessible to major transportation routes, recreational facilities, and other amenities of interest to tenants.
Queen’s University, with Energy and the Environment as one of two key strategic focus areas, provides national and international R&D leadership in alternative energy technologies including fuel cells, solar thermal energy, and bioenergy, as well as leadership in improving the environmental footprint associated with traditional energy technologies. Combined with the strength of energy and environment platforms established by the Royal Military College and St. Lawrence College, Innovation Park is well poised to strengthen the emerging energy and environment technology cluster in the Kingston region.
